Integral Mission and Urban Mission Conversation

« Go back

Thursday
21/06/12

9am to 5pm

Carlisle, UK, OM International Office

Micah Network and Operation Mobilisation(OM) invite you to a rich day of discussions are Urban Mission.

Fact: for the first time in human history the majority of people around the world now live in cities.

- How does this affect how we think about mission?

- Do we need to explore what community means, especially in the context of the growing use of electronics forms of communication, social networking and virtual “friendships”?

- How does our desire to live out an incarnational lifestyle (being present and amongst the people we are called to love and serve and share the hope we have within us)?

- Poverty can be seen at its most extreme within cities, affecting vulnerable and often marginalised groups – how can we respond more effectively together?

- Exploitation and injustices are exacerbated and can feel overwhelming – how do we tackle these issues?

Here is a day to come together and share experiences, reflections and consult one another on how we see our part in facing some of these questions. We will be guided through the day by hearing from people who have thought deeply about this and are spending their energy responding.
