Opening Address: C René Padilla

About the Speaker:

René Padilla is the President of Micah Network and has been since it was established. As he turns 80 years this year he has agreed to change this role to President Emeritus.

René Padilla has a PhD in New Testament from the University of Manchester, England. He was a member of the staff of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students for Latin America from 1959 to 1982, General Secretary of the Latin American Theological Fellowship from 1983 to 1992 and founding member of the Kairos Community of Buenos Aires from 1976 to the present.

Rene is currently Emeritus President of the Kairos Foundation and Director of Kairos Books. The Kairos Foundation is a Christian service agency whose raison d'etre is to facilitate the reflection on and the practice of integral mission on the part of local churches. It has a retreat centre (the Kairos Centre) and three departments: theological education (CETI), publications (Kairos Books), and practical church ministries (Ministerios Comunitarios). About the Speaker

CB Samuel has had a lengthy relationship with Micah Network and has spoken at a number of Micah Network's Global and Regional Consultations. Bible teacher, pastor, theologian, mentor, former CEO of a major Indian relief and development organisation, missiologist, evangelical leader and passionate advocate for the poor. CB brings great grace, wisdom, gentle humour and an extraordinary freshness to his teaching. He is always profoundly challenging and encouraging as he teaches us more about our God of justice and compassion.

Devotion: Johannes Reimer

About the Speaker

Rev Dr Johannes Reimerwas born in 1955 in the former Soviet Union and during adolescence he became a believer.  In 1976, he moved to Germany with his family. Johannes studied theology in Wiedenest, Hamburg (Germany) and Fresno (USA), and became a pastor in 1985. In 1986, he founded the missions organization LOGOS International with a focus on Eastern Europe.  In 1995, he gained his Doctor of Theology and was called to be Professor of Missiology in 1997 at the UNISA (South Africa). Johannes has a big heart for church planting and reformation. He is involved as counsellor and international speaker and has written more than 20 books and a variety of articles. He chairs The Network for Education and Research in Europe (GBFE). Johannes is married to Cornelia and they have three children.

Transformation Story: Mandy Marshall

About the Speaker

International trainer on gender based violence in faith contexts using a relationship based approach. Co-founder and co-director of Restored – an international alliance to transform relationships and end violence against women. Won the 2011 Deloitte “Women that Rock” award for work ending violence against women.

Plenary: Ruth Padilla DeBorst

About the Speaker:

Ruth Padilla Deborst has been involved in leadership training, church and community development and strengthening of a Network for Holistic Mission in El Salvador, under the auspices of Christian Reformed World Missions. Having spoken and ministered to students and leaders through the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) for many years, she is begins a new role in World Vision International, after completing her term as as Secretary General for the Latin American Theological Fraternity. She is on the Board of the International Justice Mission, and directing Ediciones Certeza Unida, the publishing house of the Spanish speaking movements linked to IFES.

Theme for the day is walking in humility, love and repentance

Devotion: Rhiannon Lloyd

About the Speaker

Dr Rhiannon Lloyd, from Wales, UK, a former medical doctor and psychiatrist, has led a reconciliation ministry since 1994. She pioneered a workshop called Healing the Wounds of Ethnic Conflict in post-genocide Rwanda, aimed at equipping the church to be an agent of healing and reconciliation, with very encouraging results. The ministry has also impacted DRC Congo, Burundi, South Africa, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Uganda, and Ivory Coast. In January 2012 a 6-week International School of Reconciliation held in Rwanda enabled other nations to benefit from the lessons learnt in Rwanda. Rhiannon is part of Le Rucher Ministries based in Geneva www.lerucher.org

Plenary: Vinoth Ramachandra

About the Speaker

Vinoth Ramachandra is from Sri Lanka, and lives in Colombo with his Danish wife Karin. He is the Secretary for Dialogue and Social Engagement for the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students, a federation of about 150 autonomous and indigenous university student organizations. He also serves on the Council of Reference of the Micah Network and of A Rocha, a global biodiversity conservation network. He loves reading, movies, walking, and gazing at stars and birds.

About the Speaker

 

Dave, his wife Ange, and their family, have lived and worked in intentional communities with marginalised groups of people in Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India for forty years. www.daveandrews.com.au

Dave is interested in radical spirituality, incarnational community and the dynamics of personal and social transformation. He is author of many books and articles, including 'Christi-Anarchy', 'Not Religion, But Love',        'A Divine Society', ‘Learnings’, ‘Bearings’, and ‘People Of Compassion’ being published by Wipf and Stock.

Dave and Ange and their friends started Aashiana, Sahara, and Sharan, Christian community organisations working with slum dwellers, sex workers, drug addicts, and people with HIV/AIDS in India; and they are currently a part of the Waiters Union, an inner city Christian community network that is walking and working alongside Aborigines, refugees and people with disabilities in Brisbane, Australia. www.waitersunion.org

Dave is an educator for TEAR Australia, a Christian international aid agency; a teacher for the University of Queensland, Christian Heritage College and Forge; and an elder for Servants to Asia’s Urban Poor.
