“In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now” Philippians1:4-5

A good friend working for an international aid agency in South Sudan was approached by a member of the community who had no shoes. He asked if he could borrow her boots as he was going on a journey, and promised to bring them back. Without hesitation she removed her boots and handed them over to him. We were all taken aback by this show of generosity and she explained something that impacted us deeply. She said that the work she did and all she was distributing for the organisation did not cost her personally so when the opportunity presented itself for her to give and engage as an individual, she knew she should take it. The man returned the boots after his journey, and one person this community always remembers is this aid worker who counted the cost personally.

This really challenged us to keep seeking ways to be generous and give sacrificially individually, even though our work afforded us the opportunity to serve the vulnerable and poor daily.

The word used in the scripture from Philippians for partnership is 'koinonia' which means: joint participation, sharing, fellowship and communion. It speaks of fellowship and participation in the Gospel, in ministry, in God’s Mission. We are all in this together, and none can walk alone if we are to see real and lasting change.

Come Walk With Us

Micah Global plans its annual activities based on the annual pledges and previous contribution amounts made by its members.

This budgeting approach has significant risks. For example, if a member’s circumstances changes and they can’t keep to their pledge; if a member forgets to give, or even if they decide to change the timing of their contribution – or if an organisation gives more than they were anticipating or have given historically – all of this has an impact on Micah Global, and either hinders or advances the work we are able to do.

An opportunity for each of us to personally engage

We would like to invite members to continue their organisational partnership with Micah Global through their annual membership contribution, invested timeously as members are able to, so that we can continue to work according to our planned budget and timing.

We would also like to invite individuals to consider giving personally to Micah Global through ongoing monthly support of any amount, large or small. It may mean that something has to be sacrificed to make such a step, so we don’t make this invitation lightly.

A Story from Uganda

Bishop Zach Nyringe of Uganda was so shocked at how malnourished children at many of the poorer schools were because they had no lunch, that he took the personal decision to not eat lunch himself until this was acted on. He explained to us how lunch time was a reminder for him of how many children were going hungry with no lunch, and this motivated him to act on their behalf even more.

We believe that for the vision of Micah Global to be realised together we need to invest not only organisationally, but personally.

As we have tried to ensure that all National Coordinators make it to the gatherings, for example, whether from resourced or under-resourced countries, there have been times when we have approached our member organisations asking for help in making this happen. We have asked, “Would your organisation and/or yourself be able to help towards their travel costs?” and the reply is often that the organisation is unable to help.  Personal giving is not often considered, and yet it would make a significant difference to the work of Micah around the globe.

We believe if we are to see transformation come, mission must also be a personal call to invest.

Micah Global was formed by our members to create a common platform and movement to work together towards the shared vision of seeing integral mission being lived out, communities being served and living life it all its fullness, free from poverty, injustice and conflict.

We are inviting you to walk with Micah as an organisation, church group or individual.

Organisations:through your annual membership contribution and intentionally working with and through Micah Global to move the shared vision and mission forward.

Church groups:through your annual membership contribution and to intentionally seek ways to apply the learning within your communities and nations.

Individuals: through your commitment to walking with Micah Global by engaging with the activities and initiatives, and investing in this through monthly and/or annual financial support. This could be from $10 to $200 per month. We know that God will take what we can offer and multiply it as we commit to sharing together.

Micah has nearly 10,000 people on the mailing list. Can you imagine if 10% gave $20 / month – we would raise $240,000. This would open the door for us to effectively work with Micah in every country, to serve them to be a blessing in their nation and to produce more resources, participate in increased advocacy opportunities and mobilise more Christians around the world to make a difference in the country in which they live.
