A New Global Partnership: Eradicate poverty and transform economies through sustainable development. The Report of the High-Level Panel of Eminent Persons ((leaders of Indonesia, Liberia and the UK appointed by Ban Ki-moon ) on the Post-2015 Development Agenda has been released. Amanda Jackson, Advocacy Director of Micah Challenge has drafted a helpful summary (see attached). She outlines the headlines as follows:

- they want to put human rights at centre of goals

- they want to combine poverty and sustainable development goals

- they want universal goals and have set out 12 goals as examples

- they want to end extreme poverty

- they want clear measurement and comparison of progress

- they acknowledge the importance of the MDGs

- they do set out commitments on things like food waste and power consumption that will be directed at rich nations

- good governance is given emphasis

Amanda notes that though this all sounds positive there is no commitment to reducing inequality.
