How am I impacting relationships?

How am I impacting relationships?

by Mandy Marshall

Introduction

It’s not often we stop and think about what we do, and how we do it, impacts on the relationships with those around us. In our busy lives we justify our words and actions without stopping to think about the consequences to others. This week we will remind ourselves of how precious every single one of us is in our identity in Christ, created equal in the image of God, and flourishing to be all God created us to be. We will look at the devastation caused when the image of God reflected in women is not respected which results in inequality, injustice and, at times, violence and abuse. As Christians our discipleship to Christ yearns us to call out injustice and act to bring about a change. I pray that this week will move and motivate you to listen and hear the heart of God on this injustice and leave you changed.

Action Plan on Child Protection: Guiding our leaders and Guarding our children

Action Plan on Child Protection: Guiding our leaders and Guarding our children

By the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia We are inspired by the words of our Lord Jesus Christ found in the book of Matthew 19:13-15 to provide support to children. Through this Scriptural passage, Jesus Christ taught us that we need to care for our children. The action which was exhibited by the disciples by preventing children to meet Jesus Christ could be likened to that of many of our brothers and sisters worldwide today who do not have regard about the importance of children nor their rights. When Jesus Christ demanded that the disciples allow the children to be brought to him and not to be hindered, meant a lot about how Jesus dealt with the children’s rights. Oftentimes, the plight of the children is overlooked and sometimes they are deliberately denied of their fundamental Human Rights and consequently, their survival is affected. Read

Boys and Girls in God’s Purpose: INPUT TO A BIBLE-THEOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK ON CHILDHOOD

Boys and Girls in God’s Purpose: INPUT TO A BIBLE-THEOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK ON CHILDHOOD

Forty-six Christian leaders, including male and female theologians, Bible scholars, teachers and other church servants, participated in the “Bible Theological Framework on Childhood” Latin American and the Caribbean meeting at the “Casa Nazareth” Retreat Center, in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, on November 13 to 15, 2003. This event was called by the following organizations: Compassion International, Christ for the City International, Latin American Mission, Latin American Council of Churches, Tearfund, World Vision International and Viva Network.

This meeting is part of the “Juntos por La niñez” (“Together for Children”) Movement* initiatives, and emerges from the need to deepen Scriptural bases and to nurture a theological thinking that stimulates and gives orientation to the evangelical churches’ ministry on behalf of children.

The following document, entitled, “Boys and Girls in God’s Purpose”, is the outcome of the shared input and reflection during the meeting in Buenos Aires, and at the “Children, Teenagers and Church” Latin American meeting held in Heredia, Costa Rica, in September, 2002. Its purpose is essentially to stimulate the deepest thoughts that contribute to anchor our faith in the solid foundation of the Word, and in a more contextualized and faithful theological reflection.

Case Study: A successful partnership with the Christian Community on Early Intervention for Children with special needs in Malaysia

By Christine Foo 2007 Personally, the overarching principle for me to be involved in this ministry is that every person (with or without disabilities) is of EQUAL VALUE and possess the God-given dignity. “Every child is of equal worth, without respect to physical beauty, intelligence, health or productivity. That inherent value is a gift from the Creator, who loves us all with infinite fervor.” – Dr James C Dobson Read

Biblical Understandings of Children and Childhood: Resources for the Church and Mission Today

Biblical Understandings of Children and Childhood: Resources for the Church and Mission Today

Although Christians today and in the past have often viewed children in narrow and even destructive ways, the Bible expresses six insightful and central perspectives on children; and by holding these six perspectives in tension (rather than in isolation), we can broaden our conception of children and strengthen our commitment to them in all areas of the Church.
