Vision & Mission

Act Justly. Love Mercy. Walk Humbly.
- Micah 6:8

Vision

Micah Global is a global Christian community of organisations and individuals committed to integral mission.

Established in September 1999, Micah draws Christian organisations and individuals, often operating in isolation, together to significantly enhance their capacity and impact as well as develop their ability to act collectively in key areas of concern.

Mission

Rooted in the Gospel, we become agents of change together with communities by:

  • Inspiring, equipping and enabling one another to respond effectively in word and deed
  • Uniting, mobilising and standing together to address poverty, injustice and conflict with a clear prophetic voice

We aim to motivate and equip a global community of Christians to embrace and practice integral mission.

Rationale in choice of words:

Motivate: to encourage and inspire

Equip: to resource, train and disciple

Global: in all regions and countries

Community of Christians: drawn from

  • Aid / NGO organisations
  • mission organisations
  • academic / training institutes
  • local congregations
  • networks
  • alliances
  • denominational secretariats
  • individuals

Embrace: to wholeheartedly accept and commit to

Practice: to apply, live out effectively

Integral mission: proclamation and demonstration of God’s love

Values

The four core values of Micah are: Christ Centred, Equity, Humility, and Unity.

Christ Centred

Jesus Christ is our inspiration and motivation. We acknowledge that the true worth of what we do will be determined by the extent to which we are joined to him, and our work shaped by him (John 15.1-10). We joyfully acknowledge our dependence upon him, and seek the empowerment of the Holy Spirit as we strive to be among those who “do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God.” (Micah 6.8)

Equity

Jesus treated every person equally, without regard for their social or economic status (Mark 12.14). We aspire to the same godly “disinterest” in status in our personal and organisational relationships. We will endeavour to resist those attitudes and practices that link influence and authority to economic power, gender, geography or history.

Humility

Humility, nurtured by a proper appreciation and understanding of God, self and others, is critical to godly relationships (1 Peter 5.5). We aspire to the humility that will enable us to learn from each other. Such humility liberates us from the need to dominate and own, to serving one another in love (Philippians 2.1-8).

Unity

We rejoice in the richness of our diversity. We thank God for the profound joy of fellowship and interdependence in Christ that transcends the divisions of race, culture, gender, economics, geography and history. Such joy is at the heart of Jesus’ vision for his disciples and a profound sign of the character and love of God (John 17.20-32). We acknowledge the seriousness of the call to make every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit (Eph 4.2) in our fellowship for the sake of the Gospel.
